Are we losing our freedom of press in the name of security? I was distressed to hear that because of post 911 legislation changes  Ottawa Citizen reporter Juliet O'Neill  was subjected to RCMP raiding her home and office in a search that would have not so long ago been illegal. They wanted her source for her Nov 8 2003 story which detailed secret government documents in the case of Maher Arar, a Canadian who is suing USA government for deporting him to Syria where he was tortured and held captive for months without any charges being laid. Canada's prime minister chastised law enforcement saying they should busy themselves finding out who leaked the secrets and not the reporters. Words are being tossed around now like "nazi" and "policed state" and i cant say that I like this. Will the day come that I am searched and raided for my rampant criticism of government I have always took for granted as my democratic rights? Reporters could now face a 14 year sentence. This is fascist and needs to be struck down. I am outraged. Canadians need to speak up if law enforcement is allowed to control our media we enter a  dangerous phase. Much of this website details what happens when the government and law enforcement are allowed to operate in secrecy. I have not forgotten the boys of ST Vincent and so many other victims of police and government cover ups. The government works for US not the other way around. Canadians must demand accountability and cling to our freedoms of expression. Without the press so many crimes would have been allowed to fester in obscurity.
